' " Church to be BuUt.' : ' The lot hat been " purchased as a site lor, the Methodist Protestant house of worship which that denomi nation propose to build in this. city. The lot is situated , on L:e street between the reddeoces of Mr. T7. S. Bsll and Mr. B. C. Sharp, fronting North 68 feet with a depth of 165 feet. The situation is believed to be a most excellent one, and , the immediate community second to none in the city. The deed for the property has been recorded and this impoitans step completed in the' work of building the contemplated church, which is designed to be of modern, ner.t, taste ful architecture, and worthy ot its surroundings. " -n rv : ' ' From slmost time immemoritlthere has been a small nucleus of Metho dist Protestants in rhis city, and. at seyeral different times the question of building an altar for public worship has come up for consideration, but nevst untij recently bat anything like cry sif.u?AUon ,01, mo nuuaing cuii- ment been attained and this change has been toeoutgrowth fa large meas ure "of the impression that Greens boro ltprf the highway to an enlarged popiIation, and is consequently destin ed to receive in the near future a still1 larger influx of the Methodist Protes tant element.! Now at length, after year of inactivity as to providing a chu'rliorV9rii?Onyni -tnt Methodist Protestant denomination decides o rear a tempi lor the wpr ship of Almighty God and to , honor His Holy iMtme.;- ; , - , ... Happily the date of this movement finds the' leading denominations of the city provided with neat andjeom fortable houses of worship, which fact would seem to make the season an opportune one in which to effectuate the enterprise now contemplated. Greensboro may. justly claim to be A center of good schools, good morals and church privileges, and especially of religious toleration and fraternity, and the addition of this one more house of worship but adds one more de nomination to those which have here already a habitation and a name. We are pleased to have a most favor able report of the agent of this new enterprise as to the outlook tor com plete succsss, his impression being highly encouraging and satisfactory. There is one view of this- matter however, which may look at ( if it were an appeal to secular motives if so let it -be. 'I It is this: The build ing oi i Methodist Protestant house of worship in this city tau'st tend to at tract": people of that persuasion in, other places to. come and make their homes here.' NThat this' is a fact; w are well assured, as such things often occur.. So that we tan say with good deal of assurance, that the build-in-? of this church must add to the cupital and the population of the city and the more so since it is largely r- rc" rt:J i. t' a community ( from ! 1 1 - -Has on section of the country I the right to invade another section with hostile (horse style) intent?
